What Azure Arc Is

Azure Arc is a bridge technology that extends the Azure Resource Manager (ARM) control plane to resources located outside of Azure. It enables organizations to project physical servers, virtual machines, and Kubernetes clusters running in on-premises datacenters, edge environments, or other cloud providers directly into Azure as native resources.

How It Meets the Requirements

By installing the Azure Connected Machine agent on on-premises machines, those servers receive a unique Resource ID and can be organized into Azure resource groups and subscriptions. Once connected:

• Azure Policy can assess and enforce configuration compliance across on-premises and cloud servers alike.
• Azure Update Manager can assess patch compliance, schedule maintenance windows, and deploy operating system updates seamlessly across hybrid workloads.
• Azure Monitor and security solutions can collect telemetry, logs, and metrics across all connected servers from a single pane of glass.
